24.0 x 17.cms, 281pp, contemporary full calf with richly gilt-decorated spine in compartments, engraved architectural title page, woodcut initials & diagrams throughout, includes astronomical & calendrical tables characteristic of late 16th century Renaissance mathematical publishing. Binding rubbed & worn with surface abrasion to boards, corners worn, joints starting but holding firmly. Interior remarkably clean with occasional staining/toning. Provenance: From the library of noted historian of astronomy Owen Gingerich with his "Coeli Enarrant" bookplate to front pastedown. Also, early Latin ownership inscription to the upper margin of the title page, apparently identifying a Capuchin institutional library and possibly the Capuchin convent at Vienna; the inscription is partially faded and not fully deciphered.
