FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
What kinds of books do you specialise in?
We specialise in history, philosophy, science, cultural studies, and literature, with a particular focus on British, European, and Australian publishing from the sixteenth to the twenty-first centuries. Our stock includes first editions, rare and antiquarian books, scholarly works, and significant out-of-print titles.
Do you sell only rare and antiquarian books?
No. While we have a particular interest in rare, antiquarian, and collectible books, we also offer scholarly and out-of-print works that are valued for their intellectual or historical significance rather than their rarity alone. We also stock classic and contemporary literary works of enduring value.
Are your books accurately described?
Yes. We aim to provide clear, honest, and detailed descriptions of every book we offer. Any defects, inscriptions, repairs, or signs of wear will be noted wherever possible. We believe accurate condition reporting is essential to building trust with collectors and readers alike.
We stand behind our descriptions and condition reports. Any book found to be materially different from its description may be returned for a full refund.
What do your condition grades mean?
Condition is assessed according to accepted bookselling standards and may include terms such as Fine, Very Good, Good, Fair, or Poor. Where appropriate, we provide additional detail beyond these broad categories to ensure customers understand exactly what they are purchasing.
Do you provide condition reports and extra photographs?
Yes. Detailed condition reports and additional photographs are available on request. We encourage prospective purchasers of rare, antiquarian, and higher-value books to contact us if they would like further information before purchasing.
How do you package books for shipping?
Books are carefully packed to protect them during transit. Rare and antiquarian books receive additional protective packaging to ensure they arrive safely and in the condition described.
Do you ship internationally?
Yes. We are happy to ship internationally. Shipping costs and delivery times vary according to destination and the size and value of the item.
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept major credit and debit cards, bank transfer, and other payment methods offered through our online checkout. All payments are processed securely. Please contact us if you require alternative payment arrangements for higher-value purchases.
What is your returns policy?
We want our customers to purchase with confidence. If a book has been materially misdescribed, you may return it within 14 days of receipt for a full refund. Please contact us before returning any item.
For all other returns, please contact us as soon as possible after receiving your order. We will consider requests on a case-by-case basis, provided the book is returned in the same condition in which it was supplied.
Return shipping costs are the responsibility of the purchaser unless the item has been incorrectly described or supplied in error.
Do you buy books?
We are always interested in hearing about collections and individual books that fall within our areas of interest. Please contact us with details and photographs where possible.
Do you offer valuations?
We may be able to provide informal opinions on books within our fields of expertise. Formal written valuations for insurance, probate, or other legal purposes may be available by arrangement.
Can you help me locate a particular book?
Yes. We welcome want lists and are often able to assist collectors, researchers, and institutions in locating specific editions or difficult-to-find works.
Do you have a physical store?
No. At the present time, we only sell online. However, we have plans to open a physical storefront in Sydney, Australia in the future.
